Semaglutide is an FDA-approved medication for Type 2 diabetes by improving insulin resistance, with a side effect of long-term weight loss. It is mostly known under the brand name Ozempic®, but we are offering our own compound and not the Ozempic brand.

At Austin Aesthetics, we are providing it as a weight loss shot that works by slowing down the gastric emptying. When the stomach takes more time to empty itself of food, it sends signals of “fullness’ to the brain. The result of this process is a powerful appetite suppression effect based on the individual’s own natural insulin production. This will allow the benefit of weight loss without the use of stimulants. Additionally, a Semaglutide regimen will lead to healthier blood sugar levels, which can help patients feel more energetic and may help improve overall health.

Many clients typically lose around 5% of their initial body weight, which can increase to 10% over 12 weeks. For a 200-pound individual, this amounts to a weight loss of 10–20 pounds. However, it's important to note that actual weight loss depends on various factors. Additionally, the most successful patients achieve their goals by making dedicated diet and lifestyle changes.

GLP-1 use is safe and effective with many pre-existing conditions with the exception of the following:

Currently pregnant

Currently breastfeeding

Currently being treated for cancer

Active eating disorder

Active gallbladder disease

Active substance abuse or dependency

Type 1 diabetes

Bariatric surgery (within the past 18 months)

Pancreatitis within the past 6 months, or a history of pancreatiitis caused by taking a GLP-1

Personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN syndrome

Personal history of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Semagltuide are subcutaneous injections administered in your thigh, abdomen, or upper arm.

GLP-1s may cause a range of side effects, including nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, upset stomach, dizziness, constipation, bloating, belching, gas, headaches, and fatigue. If you experience any such effects, rest assured that they generally diminish within a few weeks as your body adapts to the medication. Prescription medication will be provided to counteract any side effects if they occur, and dosage instructions will be given to minimize their impact. In recent clinical trials, less than 5% of participants discontinued GLP-1 medications due to side effects.

You don't have to follow a specific, restrictive diet, but you'll shed more pounds if you embrace a well-balanced diet filled with whole foods, lean proteins, healthy fats, and fiber. Not only will you develop better habits, but you'll also maintain your weight more effectively.

We recommend that patients maintain the current dose, or lower the dose until symptoms resolve. All patients will be prescribed medication to alleviate nausea.

Lab testing is part of the initial screening by your medical provider to ensure you are medically eligible for weight loss treatment. Biomarkers we test for include CMP, Fasting Lipid, TSH with Reflex to T4, Hemoglobin A1C, and Insulin.

This program will assist you in shedding unwanted weight and activating your body's weight-loss mode. Depending on your weight loss goals, some patients continue for over six months. Once you reach your goal weight, your team will design a maintenance plan for you. However, as with everything else in life, it's ultimately up to you.
